Orin
Orin is an open resource for factory automation. Started by the Japanese robotics manufacturers, it is a means of connecting control systems from different control system companies. DENSO are a leading supplier and the system is now supported in Europe.
Benefits to OEM's
The main benefit to OEM companies is a standard machine control cell can be developed which can communicate between a robot and CNC machine.
When this is sold to a customer who has Fanuc CNC controller but a different version, the software from Fanuc is changed and the cell control will again function, reducing development time as the main body of the code is not altered.
