Cognex Solution.
The cognex In-Sight range of sensors if fully compatible with the Denso Robot range controllers, Communicating via Ethernet giving high speed and secure data transfer. Between on or more robots and cameras.
The Camera is triggered by a sensor when the part passes the conveyor. This starts operates the shutter of the camera. The camera takes the image and using PatMax to find the component, which typically can take 100msec. The camera system is calibrated and produces from the image an X Y and angle which is related to the robot base coordinate system. The camera uses simple TCP ethernet comms to pass the information to the robot via a dedicated ethernet port.
Conveyor Tracking Systems.
In addition to the vision guidance systems the Denso robots can have a conveyor tracking option allowing the cameras to be located up stream from the picking position, passing information the robots when the part becomes in there reach.
At the same time as the camera triggers the shutter then robot tracking system is signalled that a component is required to be tracked. A few millsecs later the camera will send the component position. This is held in tracking queue of parts. The accuracy is controlled by the hardware signals, and is not dependant on the ethernet link, as long as the data is available before the robot has to pick up the component.
The robot has coordinates which it monitors the position of the item, when it is within it allowed window the robot will move to the start position. The robot in the demonstration follows the part along the conveyor before finally picking it up, demonstrating its tracking ability.
