Spot Soldering PCB Connections by Robot PDF Print E-mail
Soldering PCB Connections by Robot Spot soldering PCB Connection by Robot, read more to see the video. When flow soldering is not possible then soldering with a iron or flame or laser can be used to make a solder connection.

This demo proved the principle of providing a repeatable joint that was later adopted in a full machine produced by AA Robotics System Integrator Altec Engineering Limited at TRW.

This Soldering iron has its own controller from Apollo Seiko. The Robot moves the iron to position and the solder system feeds the solder.

The system allows for pre-tinning of the tip, applying solder at a selected feed rate and for a specified time.

At the end time peroid the solder is retracted and the iron stays in position to allow a soak time.

Finally the robot removes the iron.

The solder is retracted to stop heating of the flux/melting of the solder end.

The system can be used with "lead free" and "leaded" solder types.

The robot can be used in applications for applying spot solder flux see the aplications on sealant.
